Abstract

For the translation of patent documents, the translator should know what a patent means in general, since the patent specification is not only a piece of technical information but rather a legal document, and a patent is an item of an intellectual property which can be sold or reassigned. The present article offers some adive on the translation of Japanese patent specifications, discussing its structure and specific elements.
