Abstract

This brief paper deals with personal recollections of problems, successes, and defeats the author has encountered with his publishers in two and a half decades of translating humanistically oriented materials from German to English, particularly literary works and both scholarly and popular material in the fine arts. It concludes with a few admonitions and tips garnered from personal experience.
