Principles of Translation is a first-year introductory course in translation required for all students at the Graduate Division of Translation and Interpretation of the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Working from a model of precision, the course emphasizes context analysis and summary writing, sentence analysis and paraphrasing in order t o give students of translation the basic tools of the profession.
