Abstract
In this article, the author discusses the relation between interpreting and cultural knowledge. She enters into the public political discourse in Poland in the 90s as an example and highlights the stereotypes confronted with while interpreting from Polish into German. Besides that, she discusses the rituals in human communication and the importance of the cultural character of discourse to interpreting.
