In this chapter, the author discusses the influence of new technologies on the translation and interpreting profession. The author first discusses linguistic professions and the technological development. She then enters into the new technologies in the field of information and communication. The Internet, information marketplaces, and videoconferences are also discussed. Before giving a conclusion on the subject, the author highlights some didactical applications within the same domain.
