In this chapter, the author starts from the dialectic relationship between the semantic and the pragmatic concept. He uses this starting point to illustrate the inferential operations and translational procedures of the interpreter in relation to the enunciative conditions in which he delivers his work. Among other items, the author discusses interpreting and intentionality, orality and situationality, communicative models and interactive models, and interactional power and cultural mediation.
