Abstract

One of the controversial questions in the world of interpreting, is whether simultaneous interpreting from one’s mother tongue into another language can meet sufficient quality requirements. In this chapter, the author tries to analyse this process in its linguistic and prosodic elements. She examines in particular the reformulation from one romance language to another romance language (French – Italian). Advantages and disadvantages are discussed, so as the interpreter’s competence and a contrastive analysis of the two languages.
