The present article attempts to provide some guidelines for the training of medical translators. The author discusses preliminary knowledge, some pitfalls of medical translation such as terminology, acronyms, medical eponyms, the predominance of English and medical phraseology. Finally, the author looks into the use of training models to bridge theory and practice.
