Abstract

The present study of convergence and divergence in subtitling and surtitling focuses on the areas of eye movement, technical processes and the relationship of the audience to the source text. The author tries to illustrate that while the two processes have convergent aims, they differ quite markedly in other areas. The author also argues that further researching is required into the linguistic differences associated with the two processes
