Abstract

This article presents a contrastive analysis of the reception of French technical and scientific texts in Spain and Portugal in the 18th century. It discusses how new knowledge was spread in both countries and how censorship was tackled, examines the reception of French scientific works and looks into the role of dictionaries as a source of knowledge. The author finds that there is a difference in the reception of scientific texts in Portugal and Spain.
