Abstract

The learner of a foreign language cannot fail to notice that the language he attempts to learn differs not only with respect to basic grammatical structures but also with respect to different wording, a number of set phrases the use of which is characteristic for the given language and constitutes its characters. The present article discusses how speakers of English and Polish each translate their native language differently into Esperanto, acting according to their native language convention and at the same time subconsciously submitting to the cultural transfer of their respective languages.
