This paper is an attempt at the analysis of correspondences and differences in equivalent English and Polish texts involving elements of negation. The author discusses the notion of negatibility, describes its interactional and conceptual properties and places it within a larger meodel of dynamic meanings. Next, the author points out the similarities and differences between the use of the conceptualizations of negative senses and discourse strategies involving these senses in English and Polish with a special emphasis on conceptual-interactional consequences of such processes in the Polish and English texts which are regarded as translational equivalents.
