Abstract

This paper discusses the emergence of a European variety of English and offers indications of possible changes in meaning and structure that may occur in the increasing acceptance of the European variant of English. The paper consiers the evident relevance of this process for translation and translator training. Conclusions focus on (1) the need for European students training in the translation of business texts to foucs on translation into English, and (2) the consequente ambiguity of role facing the trainers.
