Abstract

The major theme of this article is the business of interpretation through changes in culture and society. This is explored in the translation of biblical and apocryphal texts in the pictorial images of art, or the ecclesiastical conflict between loyalty to a text and loyalty to a Church in vernacular renderings of scripture.
