This paper explores salient features of literalization in Arabic satellite television and Arabic media at large in what is now becoming known as the Greater Middle East or more accurately the Greater Middle Schism. While a new brand of Modern Standard Arabic is set to reduce major dialectical differences across the Arab countries due to the widespread of Arabic satellite networks, new language and cultural imports are widening the gap between tradition, culture and individual behaviors.
