Abstract

Regardless of whether you are the buyer of translation or localization services, the agency that provides the service or the translator who transforms the content, your interaction in the “subcontracting triangle” has an immediate impact on quality. This theme is central in the present article. Quality is discussed with regard to the obstacles it can encounter, such as time and budget, lack of clear standards etc. Quality is also discussed from the translator’s point of view. Then, the author considers quality from the agency’s perspective, and from the client’s point of view. At the end of the article, the author gives some paths to quality (including quality source materials, terminology management, translation memory management etc.).
