Abstract

In order to reach English language audiences, the work of many European writers must be mediated by translation. More often than not, this process will not work to the advantage of the original writer. This article discusses English literature in translation and the hegemony of prevailing literary traditions, examines the primary position of translated literature in English and looks into the might of global English.
