Abstract

The ability to display and print foreign (non-English) characters is essential for all translators, and in addition many of them have to work with scientific formulae and languages written in non-roman script. These applications pose a significant challenge for computer science. The purpose of this article is to provide a few guidelines for translators in the decisions they face when purchasing a computer system.
