Abstract

Due to an increase in knowledge in almost all research areas we can see traditional sciences being divided up in a number of subdisciplines on the one hand, and one the other we see an increasing demand for interdisciplinary cooperation. This also applies for Translation and Interpreting Studies. In order to be able to examine the complex cognitive act of interpreting an interdisciplinary approach proves necessary. The author therefore discusses the topics hemispheric dominance, bilingualism and laterality, electrical activity in the brain and EEG mapping.
