Abstract
The paper deals with Chaucer's claim to be merely a translator form a Latin writer, Lollius, in him poem Troilus and Criseyde. Does he claim this to avoid responsibility for retelling he story which shows how a woman betrayed a man or does he use this illusion as an ironic cover, a mask behind which he hides his own originality?
