On the basis of her experience in teaching interpretation, the author discusses an aspect of the different abilities and competences that a future interpreter has to develop during his/her training; the activation of the mental store of words, expressions and other lexical aspects of language, and how the fast and precise selection of terminology, set phrases, etc. can be achieved.
