Abstract

There are many ways in which information technology can help those in small organisations, or who work alone, to become more productive. This paper concentrates on four of them, covering administrative and job-oriented applications: word processing, communications, spreadsheets and databases. The article commences with a brief description of what equipment is required, what is available, and what the likely costs are. This will be followed by a description of how low-cost systems can be put to use.
