Abstract

This paper examines the relationship between Translation Studies and cognitive science, asking whether, on the one hand, cognitive science can provide models to help us to make sense of translation, and on the other hand, how data from translation and interpreting may be of use to cognitive science. Exploration of these issues is situated within a relevance-theory perspective on the relationship between communication and the tolls it uses.
