The aim of this article is to suggest a possible application of Halliday's grammatical metaphor outside its main field in discourse analysis: scientific discourse. The author makes use of the systemic-functional concept in the context of translation assessment, particularly in order to analyse those clausal realisations in source language texts which become nominal ones in target language texts. The source texts used in this study are three magazine articles from the area of tourism, written in Spanish and published in two publications oriented towards the English-speaking international traveller or tourist.
