Abstract

This article pleads for a widening of the scope of Translation Studies to include any mediated transformation of offers of information performed to fulfil specific functions and meet the needs of specific audiences. Such a widening brings Translation Studies closer to the newly established related field of Transfer Studies ('Transferwissenschaften'). Reasons for this expansion are explained.
