Abstract

The aim of this article is to illustrate the pertinence of the gender perspective – which understands the social relations between men and women as the product of a historical, cultural and social construction – in order to explore the phenomenon of reproduction of the patriarchal ideology through the translation of discursive products other than literature. The approach used intends to highlight the role played by so-called neutral discourses and their translation in the transmission of dominant gendered representations in Western culture. This phenomenon is approached through a specific example of textual scientific discourse, that of public communication of science and from a model of analysis based on the proposals of Critical Discourse Analysis.
