The author discusses the problem of intralinguistic communication/translation with particular reference to the Italian legal ad administrative domains. To this end, the author considers all the proposals issued by the Ministry of Justice and the Department of Public Administration (Ministero della Funzione Pubblica) to produce texts which are more easily comprehensible by the public, without making them pedestrian. An important innovation not only for the lawyer but also for the translator could be the introduction of e-government, a term referring to all the procedures aimed at computerising public administration in order to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and economy of messages. A tendency of the language of both the law an lawyers to adapt to technology is therefore foreseeable, which will also help to achieve greater precision and consistency in legal terminology.
