In this article the author describes how she structured an initial seminar on simultaneous interpreting and how she was able to implement several theories from cognitive science and neurology in interpreter training courses. She discusses the role of listening and retention, shadowing, dual-task training, paraphrasing, abstracting, sight translation, sight interpreting, interpreting numbers, acronyms and proper names, décalage, anticipation, and cerebral dominance in interpreter training.
