Script writing is one of the many competences which are useful when facing an audiovisual translation. The article points out the way these writing techniques can help to solve many problems arisen when the translator faces the many restrictions imposed by the audiovisual text. The need to include a script writing module in the PG course is thus explain. It is also explained the way it has been adapted to the existing curricula which will materialize in the new MA programme on audiovisual translation on offer at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona from 2004-2005.
