Abstract

Opera is increasingly reaching a wider audience, particularly in countries with a consolidated tradition of television subtitling. Opera is the multi-coded medium par excellence, and its translation requires specific skills which go beyond the words-on-the page of the libretto. The paper looks at the possibility of a specific training which is not subsumable under the general DNA of the opera translator.
