Abstract

This book aims to shed some light on the role of anthologies in translation research. First, the study purports to give some general theoretical considerations and a model providing a typology of translation anthologies. The second main part of the study constitutes the corpus and investigates the reception of translated American verse in German literature and culture between 1920 and 1960. In the 64 translation anthologies, 215 American poets and 940 poems are studied.
