Abstract
In this article, a reflection is made on literary translation and on translation in general, where it is argued that translating literature should not necessarily be more difficult than translating other types of texts; In all cases, translators need to be hones, to have a good knowledge of languages and to be curious to learn what they do not know. With examples form the translation of Salman Rushdie's Shalimar the Clown, some tricks of the trade are explained, as regards the se of Google as a source information and practical procedures used by the translator thanks to electronic versions of the texts. Comments are also made about the application by the translator of a particular theory of translation to each text and about translation quality.
