Abstract

This article examines the complex network of relations and structures that affect the import of Canadian literature into Germany. It discusses the Canadian government programs that support this transfer, their purposes and impact, and the way they intertwine with other agents and influences in the translation process. Further, it reviews the different phases of the transfer process over the past 30 years, and explores the German print media coverage of the translations in order to study the images of Canada thus disseminated, and embedded in German socio-cultural discourse.
