Abstract

The translation of literature is a prestigious, but rarely adequately remunerated activity, which is carried out mainly by idealistic literature enthusiasts. For this reason, the relevant market escapes the laws of economic rationality in many respects. The publication of re-translations is therefore not always a question of specific demands - such as the re-discovering or up-grading of an author -, but is more often the result of external occasions such as anniversaries or of accidental constellations of interest.
