Abstract

On the basis of four Austrian national literary magazines (Literatur und Kritik", manuskripte, Wespennest and LICHTUNGEN#), the significance of the translations for the literary programme of these magazines is analysed. The questions as well as the broad and varied answers focus on the position of the translations in the context of these magazines' agendas, and discuss the criteria for the reception of translated texts. They also attempt to trace the ways in which the magazines come by these texts and analyse the role of translators for these magazines.
