Abstract

The fate of literary translations is determined by a number of factors. Translators and their translation-theoretical convictions, and the requirements set by publishing companies have a considerable influence on the text. The reception of these translations is determined by press reviews or prizes. The contributions in this edited volume illustrate the interaction between these aspects from different points of view. The range of texts varies from the classics to contemporary literature. The target languages include German and Italian, but also Papiamento.
