Wolf, Michaela, ed. 1997. Übersetzungswissenschaft in Brasilien: Beiträge zum Status von 'Original' und Übersetzung [Translation Studies in Brasil: contributions to the status of the 'original' and its translation] (Studien zur Translation 3). Tübingen: Stauffenburg. 214 pp.

Abstract

This book discusses different aspects of Translation Studies in Brasil. Conceptualised from an interdisciplinary point of view, it looks at Translation Studies in its relation to deconstruction, poststructuralism, language philosophy, postmodernism and psychoanalysis in a postcolonial context. As a whole, the volume criticizes translational models anchored in a logocentric tradition of western thinking, according to which the translator is expected to remain invisible behind the original text. The authors base their views on theoretical work by Derrida, Foucault and Barthes.
