Abstract
This paper sketches a brief biography of Juan S. Sager. It focuses on his academic career and points out his achievements on the international scene. As a pioneer in the study of computational linguistics in Britain and the founder of the Centre for Computational Linguistics in Manchester, he played a major role in the development of the academic disciplines of Applied Linguistics, Translation Studies and Terminology.
