The author looks at text as music at the same time as music comprises different texts. The function and reception of the musical text is also analysed. The author proposes a list of actors involved in the process of giving meaning to the musical text: The writer of the libretto, the music composer, the performer, and the audience all are responsible and creators of a meaning, which may or not coincide in the same representation.
