This chapter examines the many definitions and descriptions from the field of Translation Studies for the audiovisual translation mode known as voice-over, in which two soundtracks in two different languages are broadcast at the same time. The author then describes the technique of translation for voice-over taking into consideration a distinction which has never been properly developed, namely the difference in the process depending on whether the translation takes place during the production or during the post-production phases.
