Abstract
This paper presents the complex context of the novel The Case of Mr. Crump by Ludwig Lewisohn and the influence that his work as a translator had over his creative work, as well as the process of translation into Spanish, from the translation desire implied even in the selection of the text until the final translation. Translations are always variable depending on translators and authors, depending also on discursive characteristics of source and target culture, on historical and cultural contexts of authors, translators and editors. It is therefore important to have an overview of the translation process, an aspect in which critical and descriptive translation studies have been interested.
