Abstract

This edited volume contains the proceedings of a seminar on legal translation held in Lovran, Croatia, on 8-9 December 2000. Organized into eight chapters, it investigates the translation of European Union legal discourse and some of the constraints that the prospective member countries face, but legal translation in general is also considered. Among other items, the book investigates approaches to legal translation, translator training, assessment strategies, translation procedures and strategies, lexicological, terminological and technological issues in legal translation, the translation profession in Croatia, theoretical topics in legal translation and EU terminology.
