In 1992, Anthony Pym gave a talk to his students on the epistemological problems in translation and interculturality. The first part of his speech is discussed in this book. Some of the issues tackled include the practice of semiosis, reflections on poststructuralism and deconstruction, some considerations on the principles of the didactics of translation, translation errors and mistakes, the primacy of doubt, the main consequence of indeterminacy in translation, the concept of authority and other issues.
