The topic of the publication is career paths and life histories in Translation Studies. The idea is to highlight the personal and varying scholarly and teaching paths that different people have taken in their interdisciplinary routes to and in Translation Studies. The volume consists of 18 articles and a foreword by the editor. The language of the articles is varyingly English, Finnish or Swedish, in view of the highly personal and somewhat unorthodox topic of the volume. The aim was not to produce a collection of academic articles but to let each individual author reflect on his or her career choices and influences, both academic and non-academic. Issues of language background, education and training, institutional set-up and support and the importance of specific groups or persons are discussed, as well as teaching methods, research choices and interdisciplinary connections.
