The paper raises the question of how meaning is produced in journalistic discourse: such strategic points as the use of apposition for anacoluthan and portmanteau constructions, although they do not contradict the systematic character of language, show that newspaper discourse can accommodate different constructions within the same sentence, which, as a consequence, produce multiple interpretations.
