Using one specific bible text as example, the author shows what the concept of genre can contribute to clarifying the differences between bible translations. First he gives a brief overview of the exegetic tradition of the psalms. Next, he discusses one specific psalm, psalm 8, in the translation of the NBV-translation (New Bible Translation). He takes into consideration other translations as well. Finally, the author verifies if the explicit interest in genre of the NBV-project is apparent in the translation and if this NBV-translation opposes itself to the other existing Bible translations.
