Abstract

The first issue discussed by the author is standardization and quality, as quality is often lost in providing subject access to electronic databases. Next, he discusses computer-aided indexing and variant terminology. Nasa’s machine-aided indexing is the next topic, in which the author looks into subject switching and batch and interactive modes. The fourth main topic is computer-aided lexicography. The Nasa’s computer-aided lexicography is the next subject, concentrating on thesaurus construction, access vocabulary and definitions preparation. In a final instance, the author discusses quality indexing using computers.
