Abstract

After a brief introduction to the subject field of chemistry, the author elaborates on chemical terms and the law. Next, he discusses the naming of chemicals. A systematic nomenclature is the next topic. Next, he discusses the machine-handling of systematic nomenclature. Further, the role of the IUPAC (the only international body to publish systematic recommendations for naming organic compounds) is discussed. He also discusses the power and problems of punctuation used in chemical names.
