Abstract

This paper presents an experimental applied study aimed at analysing the note-taking skills of three subject groups with different degrees of qualification and experience (apprentices, advanced, interpreters) during a consecutive interpreting task from English into Spanish. The binomial note-taking problems/strategies is the process variable used to obtain relevant data on the development and the acquisition of the note-taking skills in the three groups. Following a brief survey of the main research on note-taking, the author presents the methodological basis and the procedures of the study and the analysis results. Finally, the author outlines some conclusions applicable to the didactics and the upgrading of the note-taking skill throughout the different consecutive interpreting acquisition stages.
