Abstract
In this article the author explains her concept of translation-oriented text analysis. Her model is based on skopos theory. She applies this general model to a specific situation, as skopos theory as presented by Reiss & Vermeer is not concerned with culture-specific conditions. The author notes that she teaches future translators who are going to exercise their profession within the boundaries of a particular culture community, and therefore she is concerned with the application of the general model to a specific situation. She adapts the general functionalist theory to what she considers to be the requirements of the culture she lives in by introducing the concept of “loyalty”.
